背面描述 The ancient Egyptian god Ptah of Memphis is depicted in full figure, standing in profile to the right in the canonical mummiform posture. The deity is shown with a close-fitting cap and an elaborate broad collar, his body tightly wrapped in a shroud from which his hands emerge before him. Ptah holds a composite scepter combining the djed pillar, was-scepter, and ankh symbol, rendered in fine relief in the ancient Egyptian artistic tradition. The mirror-polished field provides a stark contrast to the frosted sculptural relief of the figure. The border consists of a decorative rope or bead pattern encircling the design.

附加信息

Ptah, the Memphite creator-god associated with craftsmen and architects, was a deliberate choice for an Egyptian commemorative series aimed squarely at the international collector market that expanded sharply after Egypt's economic liberalization in the late 1980s. The Central Bank issued several silver pieces in this period leveraging ancient iconography to generate hard currency — a priority following the debt restructuring agreements Egypt entered with the IMF in 1991.
