| Description du revers | A detailed architectural view of the Karnak Temple complex at Luxor occupies the entire field, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished proof background. A tall obelisk inscribed with a vertical column of hieroglyphics dominates the central composition, flanked by the massive ruined stone pylons, columns, and ashlar masonry walls of the temple precinct. The stonework is depicted with careful attention to texture and the characteristic coursed masonry of ancient Egyptian monumental architecture. The scene conveys a sense of ancient grandeur and archaeological monumentality, with partially collapsed structures visible at left and right. A beaded border encircles the entire design. |
