Obverse description The obverse is printed in shades of purple, red, and green on a light guilloche underprint. To the right, an intaglio portrait of Queen Elizabeth II faces left, wearing a tiara and pearl necklace. At centre-left, the Manx triskelion appears within a circular guilloche vignette surrounded by the motto QUOCUNQUE JECERIS STABIT, with the £5 denomination numeral to the upper-left and lower-right; the title ISLE OF MAN GOVERNMENT and the promise-to-pay clause are inscribed at the top.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in brown and features a large intaglio vignette of Castle Rushen, Castletown, rendered in fine line engraving with detailed stonework and towers against an open sky.
