Obverse description Brown letterpress print on orange underprint. The note is framed by an ornate guilloche border with rosette cornerpieces and the numeral '5' repeated in each corner. The issuing authority 'Kriegsgefangenenlager GÖTTINGEN' is printed in the upper portion, with the denomination 'Fünf Pfennig' set in bold reverse text within a dark central band. The lower portion carries the date 'Göttingen, im Dezember 1917' and the camp currency validity clause in small text, with a violet handstamp applied across the face; the printer's imprint of J. C.
