| Obverse description | Octagonal zinc notgeld token with a plain, unadorned field. The large numeral '5' occupies the central area, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circular legend surrounding the beaded border reads 'FRANK'SCHE EISENWERKE G.M.B.H.' at the top and 'ADOLFSHÜTTE' at the bottom, all in raised Latin lettering. The entire design is bordered by a continuous row of raised pellets following the octagonal outline of the token. |

| Additional information |
Frank'sche Eisenwerke operated the Adolfshütte ironworks in the Westerwald region of Germany, and like many industrial firms during the First World War, resorted to privately issued zinc tokens when the wartime metal requisitions and official coinage shortages left workers with nothing small enough for canteen and company store transactions. These Werksgeld issues were a practical stopgap, not a voluntary arrangement — the Reich's systematic withdrawal of copper and nickel from circulation forced the company's hand.
