Obverse description Unadorned bust of King Oscar I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and strong facial features in a neoclassical portrait style. The king is depicted with short, curly hair and a plain truncation at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads OSCAR SVERIGES NORR. GÖTH. O. VEND. KONUNG., denoting his royal titles as King of Sweden, Norway, the Goths and the Wends. The legend is set close to the raised rim, with a neat beaded or plain inner border framing the portrait field.
