The entire device is enclosed within a linear inner border and surrounded by a wreath of laurel branches, a design characteristic of the Carthage mint under Justinian I. The bold, deeply struck Є and cross are well-centred on the flan, with the wreath forming a neat circular frame. This type follows the standard pentanummium reverse formula established at Carthage, distinguishing it from Constantinopolitan issues. |
