Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Justin II, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late antique Byzantine style typical of Ravenna mint issues. The effigy displays characteristic military dress with layered paludamentum folds visible across the chest and shoulder. The portrait, though struck on an irregular flan, retains the formal imperial iconography of the period. The surrounding legend reads D N IVSTINVS PP AV, identifying the emperor as Dominus Noster Iustinus Perpetuus Augustus.
