Obverse description The obverse features the crowned coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino at center, depicting three towers atop a mount with the motto LIBERTAS on a ribbon below the shield. The legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO curves around the upper periphery in Latin script. The engravers' signatures J. ASSELBERGS and FRAPICCINI appear in small lettering at the lower left of the field. The design is rendered in a bold, slightly stylized relief characteristic of mid-twentieth-century Italian minting tradition.
