Aanvullende informatie

Ukraine co-hosted Euro 2012 with Poland — the first time the tournament was held in Eastern Europe — after a bid process that beat out Italy and Croatia in 2007. FIFA's decision was controversial given both countries' infrastructure deficits at the time, and construction of required stadiums and transport links ran significantly over schedule and budget, particularly in Ukraine.

This circulation commemorative was issued a full year before the tournament opened, part of a broader numismatic program the National Bank of Ukraine used to generate foreign exchange revenue from collector markets ahead of the event.
