| Reverse description | The reverse presents a stylized architectural rendering of the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv, the designated venue for the UEFA Euro 2012 final, with the numerals 2012 prominently displayed against the stadium background. Dynamic figurines of football players in motion are depicted across the field in a conventionalized artistic composition. The Coat of Arms of the City of Kyiv occupies the upper portion of the field above the stadium imagery. Beneath the central composition, the inscription ФІНАЛЬНИЙ ТУРНІР ЧЕМПІОНАТУ ЄВРОПИ З ФУТБОЛУ 2012р. (Final Tournament of the UEFA European Football Championship 2012) arcs along the lower exergue. |

Ukraine co-hosted Euro 2012 with Poland — the first time the tournament was held in Eastern Europe — after a bid process that beat out Italy and Croatia in 2007. FIFA's decision was controversial given both countries' infrastructure deficits at the time, and construction of required stadiums and transport links ran significantly over schedule and budget, particularly in Ukraine.
This circulation commemorative was issued a full year before the tournament opened, part of a broader numismatic program the National Bank of Ukraine used to generate foreign exchange revenue from collector markets ahead of the event.
