| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a bold, stylized lion's head in high relief at the center of the field, with gilt detailing accentuating the mane and facial features. To the right, a decorative fragment depicting confronted or striding lions is rendered in relief, reproduced from a unique 11th-century slate relief originating from the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery complex. The inscription ЛЕВ (Lion) appears in the field, identifying the subject of the design. The artistic treatment references the rich decorative tradition of Kievan Rus, wherein mythological and zoomorphic imagery—griffons, centaurs, lions, and dragons—formed integral motifs in architectural ornamentation. The overall composition conveys the historical depth and cultural heritage of medieval Ukrainian art. |

Part of Ukraine's long-running "Symbols of Ukraine" bullion and commemorative program, this issue draws on heraldic imagery tied to the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia, whose golden lion device predates the modern state by seven centuries. The local gilding technique — selectively applied rather than plated overall — was a deliberate production choice by the Kyiv mint to create chromatic contrast within a single die strike, a method that generates higher rejection rates during quality control than standard finishes.
