| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a highly detailed front elevation of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Cathedral in Kyiv, rendered in the Neo-Gothic style with twin soaring spires, an elaborate central rose window set within a pointed arch portal, and ornate pinnacles, tracery, and flying buttresses articulating the facade. The architectural composition fills the entire field, emphasizing the grandeur and verticality of the building. The curved legend КОСТЬОЛ СВЯТОГО МИКОЛАЯ arcs along the upper portion of the field, with the word КИЇВ inscribed centrally beneath it. |

The St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Cathedral in Kyiv survived the Soviet period only through a bureaucratic accident of repurposing — converted into a House of Organ and Chamber Music in 1980, which gave authorities a preservation rationale that a functioning church would never have received. That designation almost certainly spared it from demolition during the intensified anti-religious campaigns of the late Soviet decades.
This coin belongs to Ukraine's long-running "Ancient Castles and Cathedrals" circulation commemorative program, issued in nickel brass for general use rather than as a precious-metal collector piece.
