Across the upper portion of the field, five lines of italic script reproduce a celebrated verse excerpt by Pavlo Tychyna. The legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ arcs along the upper rim, with the small Ukrainian State Emblem (trident) centered above at twelve o'clock. | Description du revers | The reverse presents a three-quarter bust portrait of the Ukrainian poet Pavlo Tychyna seated at a writing desk, his right hand raised pensively to his cheek, with an open book before him. Behind the figure, stylised architectural elements and stacked books fill the background in a modernist composition. In the lower exergue, the poet's facsimile signature Павло Тичина is rendered in cursive script, followed by his birth and death years 1891 - 1967 in Roman numerals below. The entire composition is executed in frosted relief against a mirror-polished proof field. |
