| Reverse description | The reverse features a central five-pointed star bearing the inscription 70 років (70 Years) within its field, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Kharkiv. A laurel branch, symbolic of victory and honor, extends beneath the star in the lower central area. The circumferential legend ВИЗВОЛЕННЯ ХАРКОВА ВІД ФАШИСТСЬКИХ ЗАГАРБНИКІВ (Liberation of Kharkiv from the Fascist Invaders) runs along the periphery of the coin. The year 1943, denoting the historical event being commemorated, appears in the lower exergual area. |

| Additional information |
Kharkiv was occupied by German forces three times between 1941 and 1943 — an unusually brutal back-and-forth that left the city among the most contested urban centers on the Eastern Front. The final liberation came in August 1943 following the Soviet victory at Kursk, which collapsed the German position in the region entirely. Ukraine issued this commemorative in 2013 to mark the 70th anniversary of that liberation, part of a broader commemorative program tied to Second World War anniversaries that the National Bank ran throughout the 2010s.
The catalog reference places this within Zahreba's Ukrainian commemorative classification, which tracked nickel brass issues separately from the bimetallic and silver programs issued concurrently.
