Ivan Fedorov — known in Ukrainian as Ivan Fedorovych — established the first printing press in Moscow in 1563 before fleeing to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth under accusations of heresy, eventually setting up operations in Lviv, where he produced the first printed book on Ukrainian territory in 1574.
