| Opis awersu | The obverse depicts the facing figures of Saints Boris and Hlib (Boris and Gleb), the first canonized martyrs of Kievan Rus, rendered in a stylized iconic manner. Each saint is shown in full-length princely robes, holding a sword at his side, and jointly supporting a large Orthodox cross at the center of the composition. Halos above each figure are indicated by incuse circular devices, and their names appear in Cyrillic alongside each respective figure in the field. The Ukrainian trident (tryzub) state emblem appears above at the top of the coin, flanked by the legend УКРАЇНА, with the denomination 5 ГРИВЕНЬ and the date 2016 inscribed in the lower field. |
