| Obverse description | The obverse features a stylized compositional scene representing Odesa Oblast set within the brass centre. At upper centre, the small coat of arms of Ukraine (trident) is displayed, flanked by the circular legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ above and П`ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ below; the mint mark of the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works appears to the right of centre. The central field depicts the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi (Akkerman) Fortress in the upper register, with the issue year 2017 to its right, and stylized waves with a sailing vessel and a harbour crane to its left. In the lower field, a sandy beach scene is rendered with a beach chair and parasol, an amphora, and a bunch of grapes, evoking the region's Black Sea coastline and ancient heritage. |
