| Reverse description | Bimetallic reverse featuring the coat of arms of Kharkiv Oblast prominently rendered in the brass centre. The arms display a rampant lion on a shield, surmounted by an open book and an atom symbol, enclosed within a wreath of wheat ears and oak branches tied with a ribbon at the base. The copper-nickel ring bears the legend ХАРКІВСЬКА ОБЛАСТЬ along the upper arc and ЗАСНОВАНА У 1932 РОЦІ along the lower arc, commemorating the founding of the oblast in 1932. |

| Additional information |
Kharkiv Oblast was established in February 1932 when Soviet administrative reorganization carved Ukraine into oblasts, replacing the earlier okruha system. The region had previously been the capital of Soviet Ukraine from 1919 until 1934, when Stalin transferred that status to Kyiv — a political demotion the city never fully absorbed into its identity. This coin marks the 85th anniversary of the oblast's formation, not the city itself, a distinction worth noting given how often the two histories are conflated.
