| Additional information |
Bank Polski commissioned trial strikes in multiple metals during 1923 as part of the process of establishing a new coinage for the restored Polish state following over a century of partition. This brass trial for the 5 Groszy was never approved for circulation — production coinage was ultimately struck in bronze. Trial pieces of this issue survive in extremely small numbers, distributed almost entirely to mint officials and members of the issuing authority for approval purposes, and rarely surface through conventional auction channels.
