| 表面の説明 | A bold cross potent occupies the central field, its four squared terminals clearly defined with open square perforations at each arm, rendered in a modernist Art Deco style. The legend ÖSTERREICH curves along the upper periphery in raised Latin capitals, flanked by small dot stops. The date appears in the lower exergual area, also bordered by dot stops, and varies by year of issue. The overall design is stark and geometric, reflecting the aesthetic sensibility of interwar Austrian coinage, with the cross potent serving as a heraldic symbol of the Austrian state. |

The Austrian First Republic's small-denomination coinage of the 1930s circulated through one of the most politically violent periods in the country's modern history — the 1934 civil war between government Heimwehr forces and Socialist militias, the authoritarian Fatherland Front constitution that followed, and ultimately the Anschluss of March 1938, which ended the series abruptly. Coins dated 1938 are considerably scarcer than earlier issues, with production cut short before the German occupation rendered Austrian coinage obsolete almost overnight.
