Obverse description Seated allegorical figure of Marianne, personification of the French Republic, depicted wearing a winged Phrygian cap symbolising liberty, with a cornucopia filled with fruits and nuts held in her right hand and a lit torch raised in her left hand. The figure is rendered in a classical allegorical style within a composed field. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE UNION FRANÇAISE arcs around the design, with the engraver's signature G.B.BAZOR and the date 1952 appearing in the field.
