Reverse description The reverse bears a commemorative design honouring the 40th anniversary of Aruba's Status Aparte and the 50th anniversary of the Aruban Flag and National Anthem. The composition incorporates patriotic imagery with the opening line of the national anthem rendered in the field. Inscriptions in Papiamento arc around the design, referencing both milestones. The colour treatment highlights the commemorative elements against a mirrored proof field.

Additional information

Aruba's "Status Aparte" commemorates the island's separation from the Netherlands Antilles on January 1, 1986 — a political outcome driven largely by Gilberto François "Betico" Croes, who had campaigned for full independence but accepted autonomous status as a transitional step, with full independence originally scheduled for 1996. That final step was never taken; Aruba remains a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to this day.

The Centrale Bank van Aruba has issued Status Aparte commemoratives periodically since the late 1980s, and this 2026 piece marks forty years of that arrangement.
