Additional information

Part of Spain's "Provinces" series, this issue commemorates Zamora, a Castilian city whose medieval walls and Romanesque cathedral made it a focal point during the War of the Communities — the 1520–1521 revolt of Castilian towns against Habsburg rule under Charles I. Zamora was among the first cities to rise. The series ran across multiple years, pairing sterling silver with modest face values that ensured near-zero circulation, leaving most examples in essentially unimpaired condition straight from Royal Mint packaging.
