Obverse description The obverse features a portrait of Totò (Antonio de Curtis), the celebrated Neapolitan comedian and actor, depicted in his iconic stage persona: wearing a bowler hat and holding a cigarette holder in his right hand, rendered in a detailed engraved style within the coin's central silver-toned disc. His characteristically expressive face — lean features and penetrating gaze — is faithfully captured in the manner associated with his celebrated screen image. The outer bronzital ring carries the legend REPUBBLICA ITALIANA along the left and right periphery respectively, divided by the portrait. The engraver's signature U. PERNAZZA appears in the lower right of the inner field.

Reverse description The reverse is dedicated to Totò's cinematic legacy, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of his death. The central silver-toned disc depicts a pair of hands holding a strip of film, evoking the art of cinema. The surrounding bronzital ring features a large numeral '5' to the left and a vintage film reel to the right, with diagonal film strips crossing the field. The denomination EURO is inscribed at the top, the dates 1967 and 2017 appear in the lower centre marking the anniversary, and the mint mark R for the Rome Mint is positioned just above the dates.
