| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a sweeping Baroque volute scroll rendered in high relief, rising dynamically across the upper field and evoking the exuberant ornamental vocabulary of 17th- and 18th-century Portuguese Baroque art. A cherub's head with outstretched wings — a quintessential Baroque putto motif — emerges from the scrollwork in the upper right quadrant. Along the lower register, a stylized scallop shell cartouche provides a further allusion to Baroque decorative tradition. The denomination '€5' appears at right in the field, while the inscription 'O BARROCO' is prominently displayed across a curved band in the lower portion of the design. |
