| Obverse description | At the center of the nonagonal field, the large numeral '5' dominates, accompanied by the denomination inscription '5 EURO'. Surrounding the central value, the nine heraldic shields of the Austrian federal provinces are arranged in a ring, each rendered in fine relief, drawing direct stylistic inspiration from the classic Austrian 50 Schilling coinage. The circular legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' runs along the outer periphery, separated from the shield arrangement by a defined border. The overall composition, engraved by Thomas Pesendorfer, reflects a strong continuity with Austrian numismatic tradition. |
