Reverse description A detailed architectural rendering of the Puerta de Alcalá, the neoclassical triumphal gate erected in Madrid in 1778 by architect Francesco Sabatini, occupies the central field. The gate is depicted frontally, showcasing its five arched openings — three central arches flanked by two lateral doorways — with sculpted ornamentation and a balustraded attic storey. The denomination 5 EURO appears in the upper field above the monument. The legend PUERTA DE ALCALÁ is inscribed along the lower arc of the coin. The design is framed by a continuous beaded border.
