背面描述 A stylized profile portrait of José Afonso faces right, rendered in clean outline form against a largely open field. His distinctive curly hair is depicted through an intricate pattern of concentric spiral motifs, filling the upper left of the design with an ornamental, almost folk-art quality that references his musical and cultural identity. He wears characteristic round glasses, rendered in precise linear detail. Along the lower left rim, in small incused lettering, appears the mint and designer credit 'CASA DA MOEDA – F. PROVIDÊNCIA'. The composition is spare and modern, emphasizing artistic stylization over naturalistic portraiture.

附加信息

José Afonso, known universally as Zeca Afonso, was the composer of "Grândola, Vila Morena" — the song broadcast on Rádio Renascença at 12:25 AM on April 25, 1974, as the signal for military units to begin the Carnation Revolution that ended 48 years of Estado Novo dictatorship. The Portuguese mint has issued several commemorative pieces tied to that revolution's anniversary, but this one centers the man rather than the event. Afonso died in 1987, never having seen Portugal fully consolidate its democratic institutions.

The song remains legally protected from commercial use in Portugal.
