| Obverse description | Central field features a sculptural group from the garden of the Casa dei Cervi at Herculaneum, depicting a doe set upon by a pack of hunting dogs, rendered in high artistic relief. The composition faithfully reproduces one of the most celebrated ancient Roman sculptural assemblages recovered from the buried city. The engraver's name COLANERI appears at the base of the design.
