| Additional information |
Maria Bárbara de Bragança spent the bulk of her adult life as Queen consort of Spain under Ferdinand VI, and her cultural influence there was considerable — she was a devoted patroness of Domenico Scarlatti, who served as her keyboard tutor from childhood and composed the majority of his 555 sonatas explicitly for her. This coin is part of INCM's long-running Queens of Portugal series, which has drawn on figures historically underrepresented in Portuguese numismatic iconography.
The .925 silver strikes in this series occasionally show uneven surface texture near the periphery due to die preparation methods used at the Lisbon facility during this production run.
