San Marino's nature-themed collector series has grown steadily since the republic signed its latest coinage agreement with Italy, which permits San Marino to issue euro-denominated coins independently despite not being an EU member state. The arrangement is governed by a monetary agreement last revised in 2012, capping the republic's annual collector coin output and making each individual issue a limited release by treaty constraint rather than by choice.
