Beschrijving voorzijde Square flan designed to evoke a mosaic of traditional Portuguese azulejo tiles, rendered in shades of blue and grey. The field is composed of an 11×11 grid of individually raised square tile elements, with a stylised geometric pattern formed by darker coloured tiles creating a cruciform or abstract motif. The country name PORTUGAL is inscribed horizontally across the upper portion of the field within individual tile squares. The date 2025 appears vertically on the left side and the denomination 5 EURO is inscribed horizontally along the lower field, all set within the tile-grid design. The Portuguese state arms appear in small relief within the right-centre field.

Beschrijving keerzijde Square flan bordered by a frame of raised rectangular tile elements evoking traditional Portuguese azulejo tilework. The central field depicts a minimalist incuse silhouette of a female figure in left profile, shown from the waist up, with one hand raised as if applying or painting a tile; the figure is rendered in a clean, modernist outline style against a plain polished field divided by thin raised grid lines suggesting a tile panel. The legend AZULEJOS appears horizontally across the upper border tiles. Along the left border, in small characters, the designer and mint credits read CASA DA MOEDA – EDUARDO AIRES. The inscription SÉC. XX appears across the lower border tiles, identifying the depicted azulejo tradition as belonging to the 20th century.
