| Reverse description | The reverse features a finely detailed scene of a mushroom picker carrying a wicker basket amid a forest floor setting. A large bolete mushroom with a snail resting upon its cap and a smaller bolete emerging from a bed of moss are depicted prominently in the composition. A cluster of raspberries on a leafy branch is rendered in the upper left area of the field, evoking the theme of forest bounty. |

Issued under Latvia's long-running nature-themed collector series, this piece was part of Latvijas Banka's deliberate strategy to position Latvian commemoratives in the European collector market following euro adoption in 2014. Latvia entered the eurozone later than its Baltic neighbors — Estonia joined in 2011, Lithuania not until 2015 — giving Latvijas Banka a compressed window to establish a collector identity for Latvian euro-denominated issues.
The 5 euro face value places it outside everyday circulation by design, legal tender in name only.
