| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Liberia is centrally depicted, featuring a shield with a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun, surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The arms are flanked by the date 1997, split to either side of the shield, with an olive branch wreath below.
