| 表面の説明 | The national coat of arms of Liberia is depicted centrally, featuring a shield bearing a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun, supported by laurel branches and surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto. The date 1997 is split to either side of the arms, with the denomination 5 DOLLARS inscribed in the lower field. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper rim, while a secondary inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA appears within the design, and the motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE is rendered on a scroll across the arms. |

Liberia's commemorative output in the 1990s was prolific to the point of absurdity — the country issued dozens of foreign-themed collector pieces annually, most with no connection to Liberian history whatsoever. This piece was struck following Diana's death in August 1997, part of a wave of memorial issues from small-nation mints targeting the international collector market. The "Charity" designation references her humanitarian work, but the coin itself was a commercial product, not a philanthropic one.
