| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a highly detailed landscape scene from the Mountains & Flora series, depicting Half Dome, the iconic granite peak of Yosemite National Park, rising dramatically above a dense coniferous forest rendered in fine relief. The right portion of the field features a colorful applique of red orchid blossoms with yellow accents and green foliage. The series title MOUNTAINS & FLORA curves along the upper legend in incuse lettering. A cartouche in the lower left field bears the inscription HALF DOME / 2693 m, and the date 2012 appears on a raised banner ribbon at the bottom center of the design. |

Palau has issued silver collector pieces under U.S. dollar denominations since 1992, operating under a Compact of Free Association that gives the island nation no central bank and no domestic currency of its own — every circulating coin in Palau is a U.S. Federal Reserve note or coin. The Half Dome issues fit squarely into Palau's long-running series celebrating American national parks, produced almost entirely for the international numismatic market rather than any domestic need.
Half Dome itself wasn't summited until 1875, when George Anderson drilled iron eyebolts into the granite to haul himself up the final exposed face — the same route that eventually became the fixed cable system still used today.
