| Reverse description | Central gilt oval cameo portrait of Guglielmo Marconi facing slightly left, set in high relief against the silver field. Surrounding the portrait are stylized radio wave motifs rendered as sweeping concentric arcs, evoking the wireless telegraph transmissions for which Marconi is celebrated. A bird in flight and additional decorative elements appear in the background field. The centenary dates 1901-2001 are inscribed in the upper portion of the field, commemorating the hundredth anniversary of Marconi's first transatlantic wireless signal. The engraver's initials CS for Cosme Saffioti appear discreetly in the lower right field. |
