Additional information

One of dozens of fractional gold issues released under the Cook Islands' long-running licensed character program, which has used the territory's minting authority to produce collectibles bearing rights-licensed intellectual property since the early 2000s. The arrangement generates revenue for the issuer without requiring any coin to circulate — none ever do.

Boromir, the Gondorian captain from Tolkien's Fellowship, died in the film adaptation in 2001.
