| Description de l’avers | The Public Seal of Niue rendered in high relief occupies the upper right portion of the field, displaying the crowned coat of arms flanked by crossed rifles, with the legend PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE arching above and the motto ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI on a scroll below. The remaining field is richly decorated with deeply struck, three-dimensional floral and botanical motifs including large blossoms, berry clusters, and acanthus scrollwork in a dense, naturalistic arrangement. The large numeral 5 appears in the left-centre field in an open outline style, accompanied by the denomination DOLLARS to its right. The fineness designation Ag 999 with a mint mark appears at the lower right, and the date 2025 is inscribed at the bottom centre. | Description du revers | The reverse presents a highly sculptural, ultra-high relief depiction of the Green Man, a bearded male face rendered in fine antiqued silver emerging from a dense surround of coloured ivy leaves. The face occupies the central field and is characterised by deeply furrowed, bark-like skin texture, a prominent nose, and piercing green-coloured eyes that enhance the mystical character of the design. A long, flowing beard of wavy strands extends downward from the chin, blending organically with the surrounding foliage. The ivy leaves, applied in vivid green selective colouring, radiate outward to fill the entire field and extend beyond the inner border, creating a naturalistic, three-dimensional forest canopy effect. No inscriptions appear on this face; the design is purely pictorial, evoking the folkloric archetype of the forest spirit. |
