Beschrijving voorzijde The national coat of arms of Palau occupies the central field within a shield-shaped cartouche, depicting a traditional outrigger canoe above a figure of a fisherman accompanied by a manta ray, set against a sea and sky background. The motto scroll reading 'RAINBOW'S END' appears at the base of the shield. The denomination '5$' is inscribed in the lower field beneath the arms. Eight five-pointed stars are arranged symmetrically on either side of the shield in the outer field. The legend 'REPUBLIC OF PALAU' arcs along the upper rim in raised Latin lettering.

Aanvullende informatie

Palau has issued commemorative silver dollars under licensing arrangements since the 1990s, producing themed series for foreign collectors rather than domestic circulation — this piece never saw a cash register in Ngerulmud. Prambanan is the ninth-century Hindu temple compound in central Java, built during the Sanjaya dynasty and dedicated primarily to the Trimurti; it was damaged by a 2006 earthquake that collapsed several of its smaller shrines and required ongoing UNESCO-assisted restoration work still incomplete by the time this coin was struck.
