Aanvullende informatie

Palau has issued commemorative silver under its own authority since 1992, exploiting a 1994 Compact of Free Association provision that permits the island nation to mint legal tender independently of the U.S. dollar system it otherwise uses for daily commerce. The Baekdu Mountain issue is part of a broader Korean-themed series marketed almost exclusively to South Korean collectors, a well-documented pattern in Palauan numismatic output where the subject matter has no geographic or historical connection to Palau itself.
