Issued specifically for the Dubai International Financial Centre, this piece commemorates an institution that was itself only established in 2004 as a financial free zone operating under its own civil and commercial laws — independent of UAE federal jurisdiction and pegged to English common law rather than local statutes. The DIFC's creation was a deliberate policy decision to attract international banks and firms without requiring them to operate under UAE commercial code.
The series was struck by the British Royal Mint on contract.
