Additional information

Struck during the period when Reza Shah was systematically modernizing Iran's monetary system alongside broader Westernization reforms — renaming the country from Persia to Iran in 1935, restructuring state institutions, and overhauling the currency infrastructure. The aluminium bronze composition was a deliberate shift away from the older copper coinage, reflecting both industrial modernization ambitions and the practical realities of wartime metal availability as the series ran into the early 1940s.

Reza Shah was forced to abdicate in September 1941 following the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran, making the later dates of this type among the last coins issued under his reign.
