Reverse description The reverse bears the classic Canadian beaver design originally executed by George Kruger Gray, depicting a beaver in left-facing profile, seated upon a partially submerged log or rocky outcrop. The national inscription CANADA appears in the exergue beneath the central device, while the denomination 5 CENTS is displayed above, with a stylized maple leaf motif flanking the design on either side. The date of issue appears within the reverse legend, varying annually across the series. The design is struck in high-relief proof finish, accentuating the fine detail of the beaver's fur and the natural aquatic setting.
