| 背面描述 | The denomination numeral '5' and the inscription 'CENTAVOS' are prominently displayed within the central field, enclosed by a laurel wreath tied at the base with a bow. The legend 'AMERICA CENTRAL' arcs along the upper periphery. Below the wreath, the silver fineness '9 Ds' (denoting 0.750 fine) and the assayer's initials 'G.W.' for Guillermo Witting are inscribed, serving as a guaranty of the coin's metallic standard. |

Costa Rica's small silver fractional issues of the 1880s were struck at the San José mint during a period when the country was still working through the monetary consolidation that followed the 1864 decimal reform. The KM#125 type had a short production window — three years at most — before successive coinage laws pushed the republic toward heavier reliance on foreign-struck issues and, eventually, a shift away from silver fractionals altogether.
