Obverse description Central field bears a large four-character Chinese legend reading 中華民國 (Republic of China) arranged in a square formation, surrounded by an inner beaded border. The legend 當紅錢五 (five cash) appears to the upper left, with 新疆喀造 (minted at Kashgar, Xinjiang) and 銅幣 (copper coin) distributed around the periphery. All inscriptions are rendered in bold relief in a traditional Chinese script. The overall layout is characteristic of early Republican-era provincial coinage, with text filling the field in a symmetrical arrangement. An outer beaded border frames the entire design.

Reverse description Two crossed rectangular banners or flags occupy the central field in bold relief, their staffs forming a prominent saltire pattern, a design emblematic of early Republican China's Five Races Under One Union symbolism. Arabic inscriptions surround the central motif: ضرب كاشغر (struck at Kashgar) appears above, بيش تين (five cash) in the center, and the Hijri date ١٣٣١ (1331 AH / 1913 AD) below. A beaded border runs along the outer rim. The composition reflects the bilingual, bicultural nature of Xinjiang provincial coinage intended for use among both Chinese and Turkic-speaking Muslim populations.
