Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of Emperor Tiberius III standing erect, crowned and robed in a long imperial loros or tunic. The emperor holds an elongated cross sceptre in his right hand and a globus cruciger in his left, emblematic of Christian imperial authority. The figure is rendered in the flat, hieratic style characteristic of late Byzantine provincial coinage.
