| Descrizione del rovescio | Large denomination numeral M (40 nummi) dominates the center of the flan in bold relief. An upright palm branch flanks the M to the left and a second upright palm branch flanks it to the right, a characteristic decorative device of the Syracusan mint. A cross-shaped monogram appears above the M in the upper field. The design follows the standard Byzantine follis reverse layout adapted for the Syracuse mint under Tiberius III. |
