Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, rendered in the late antique provincial style characteristic of the Carthage mint. The emperor's hair is depicted in fine parallel striations beneath a pearl diadem, with a decorative paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder. A cross may appear on the breast. The surrounding field carries the imperial Latin legend, partially visible due to the irregular flan, arranged around the portrait in a continuous circular band.
